Osteoporosis awards

Entries for the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) 2005 Journalism Awards close tomorrow 31 January 2006. Winners of the top two of the 20 prizes get USD 5,000 plus an all-expenses paid trip to Toronto.

UNESCO has just published Net for Journalists: a practical guide to the internet for journalists in developing countries by UK journalist Martin Huckerby. It is 141 pages of good, practical, basic advice and is a free download from here.

International awards for women journalists

The International Women’s Media Foundation is seeking nominations from around the world for its 2006 Courage in Journalism Awards and Lifetime Achievement Award. Nominations close on 15 March 2006 and the results are announed in May.

Words & Images Award

An interesting new journalism award organised by Commonwealth Press Union to celebrate and fuse the crafts of writing and photojournalism is now open for entries. The theme for the competition is 'the forgotten commonwealth' and details are here. It is backed by Rolls-Royce and closes on 30 April 2006.
