Lyneham Award
Seven Network political editor Mark Riley won the 2006 Paul Lyneham Award for political journalism, announced at the Press Gallery's Mid-Winter Ball.

Student award
The FECCA/SBS joint national award for student journalism was announced on June 9. The winner is Phillip Thomson, then of Newcastle Uni and now of Port Macquarie News. He gets $1,000 from FECCA and a six months internship with SBS.

WAN meeting
The World Association of Newspapers (WAN) and its Editors Forum are meeting in Moscow 5-7 June 2006. The WAN meeting is being blogged with podcasts and the Forum reported continuously on their Editors Weblog.
