The FECCA/SBS joint national award for student journalism was announced on June 9. The winner is Phillip Thomson, then of Newcastle Uni and now of Port Macquarie News. He gets $1,000 from FECCA and a six months internship with SBS.

Innovation Journalism

Papers and proceedings of the The Third Conference on Innovation Journalism at Stanford University, April 5-7, 2006 will be published on the website soon. In the meantime there is a very interesting two hour streaming video of a group of conference experts discussing the future of journalism and news publishing available free on Google Video. Tasmania media awards

The winners of the Tasmanian Media Awards were announced in Hobart last night.
